Group exhibition "The Inscribed Art"
28.12.2017 - 27.01.2018.
The Inscribed Art
A group exhibition
The last chance to visit the exhibition and purchase New year’s gifts only on December 29th, 2017.
From December 29 to January 1, exhibition “The Inscribed Art” will be available for viewing in the gallery MuseumLV.
MuseumLV celebrates its first anniversary with this project and has invited every artist, both that have collaborated with the gallery during this year by having exhibitions, participating in online painting sessions as well as those who are set to work with the gallery in the future.
The artworks have been created in various different techniques, yet they are all related in their use of orthographic symbols, that is, letters. This exhibition is a collective message from the culture centre team and the artists to the world on the New Years Eve.
Some older artworks that pertain to this theme will be showcased, however most of the works have been created specifically for this project. Some artists are loyal to themselves and keep working in a style and format they are identified with, for example: Dita Lūse, Ilze Jaunberga, Agate Apkalne, Ilze Smildziņa, Rihards Delvers, Roberts Diners, Lilija Dinere, Līga Ķempe, Artūrs Bērziņš, Dmitrijs Lavrentjevs, Līga Jukša, Kalvis Zālītis…Others, such as Matiass Jansons, Jūlija Jeresjko, Inga Jurova, Anda Poikāne, Laura Feldberga, Laime Bikše … have dared to experiment and their works will be a surprise. Modris Brasliņš in his drawing cycle tackles the problems that are upsetting to society. Edgars Ameriks and Miķelis Baštiks have created a font, drawing their inspiration from the historical posters of Ansis Cīrulis, and materialized it via peat. Artists from Estonia, Lithuania and Belarus are also participating in the exhibition.
The exhibition on the second floor of the gallery by the students of Art Academy of Latvia is an alternative interpretation of the theme of “The Inscribed Art”. Painter Kristīne Kutepova has assumed the role of the curator and has organized the student exhibition.

Group V.I.V.A. exhibition "Fell in love with Latgale…”
16.11.2017 - 21.12.2017.
Art group "V.I.V.A." "Fell in Love with Latgale…"
Art group "V.I.V.A." celebrates their existence with publishing the catalog and opening the exhibition. The catalog has been created as a result of the project with financial support from Latgale Region Development Agency, State Culture Capital Foundation and JSC Latvian State Forests.
The exhibition "Fell in Love with Latgale…" is a story about talented and life-loving Latgalian painters - Vēsma Ušpele, Ilze Griezāne, Vija Stupāne, and Agra Ritiņa, who meet from time to time to be together, paint, share their life stories, enrich each other and create. Each of the artists comes from their own place in Latgale - Vēsma from Malta, Ilze from Līvāni, Vija from Aglona, and Agra from Rēzekne. Together they cover the whole Latgale. Together they create exhibitions, participate in plenary sessions. For more than 10 years, they have visited various places, experienced creation together in Latgale, Kurzeme, Vidzeme and Zemgale, each time learning something new and telling a story about Latgale everywhere. The number of joint exhibitions is well over two dozen and the works have been seen in Latvia, Lithuania and Germany. Regularly the painters’ works can be seen at the autumn exhibitions of Latgalian artists' at the Latgale Cultural History Museum, the Latgale Region Artists’ Exhibitions at the Mark Rothko Art Center and the exhibitions of the works of the winners of Jāzeps Pīgoznis (1934–2014) award for the painting of Latvian landscapes.
The art historian Evija Vasiļevska says about the art group: "Painters have not yet completed all their creative way, but it can be said for sure that their footsteps in the art are permanent and remarkable, by propagating plein-air painting and singing the hymn for nature - capturing their landscapes in genre works, while maintaining the ability to paint together on a long-term basis, complementing each other, cultivating the self of individual creation and confirming the successful use of new means of expression in each artwork."

Dita Lūse. Solo exhibition "Anatomy of light"
16.11.2017 - 21.12.2017.
Dita Lūse's exhibition "Anatomy of light" is open for viewing in art gallery MuseumLV (first floor) until December 21, 2017.
The exhibited works have been created within 2016 and 2017. The artist continues to explore the nature of light – the inspiration for this exhibition has been drawn in reflections, shadows, lights and x-ray images.
"The image, created in the momentary flash of radiation reveals the matters that are otherwise hidden from our eyes – this possibility to view the secret, to discover the invisible fascinates me. I study and admire the forms of bones and gentle shapes of plants in the cold play of x-ray light. For me it is essential that the creatures in the images are alive. I consider x-rays as very private depictions. One can see the human being much more profoundly than with any other kind of photography, yet at the same time x-ray is detached, it erases all individuality. In the short moment of light bones and floral structures become a pattern, an ornament.
The body is revealed in the short moment of x-ray light, and it contrasts the long-lasting light that shines into ancient vaults and spaces that I paint. This dimension of light is very important to me, just like the knowledge that walls, floors and patterns are loaded with memories, fates, life stories.
Patterns allow me to to show the depth of spaces, which in turn let me convey the feeling of solitude and silence. Still even more important for me is that patterns can entrance the viewer, and when painting portraits the meditative nature of ornaments enhance the mood. Observing the patterns one can get distracted, lose oneself, or, quite contrary, experience the moments of awareness and forget about time", reveals the artist.
Dita Lūse has been awarded as Best Painter by Aviskar Awards in 2012, Kolkata, India, has participated in Beijing International Art Biennial in China in 2010, twice been the finalist at Grand Prize Competition of Art Revolution Taipei in Taiwan (2015 & 2017) and has been selected as finalist in Art Olympia 2017 competition in Tokio, Japan. Dita has had significant solo-exhibitions in Latvia as well as elsewhere, e.g. "immagini Spazio Arte" in Cremona, Italy, "The moment of Light" in gallery "Artifact" in New York, USA and selected as invited artist for solo-show in A.R.T. 2016, in Taipei, Taiwan.

Lilija Dinere and Roberts Diners. Solo Exhibition "The Gods, Heroes, Reflections and Shadows"
07.10.2017 - 11.11.2017.
Lilija Dinere and Roberts Diners
"Gods, Heroes, Reflections and Shadows"
From 07.10.2017 - 09.11.2017 in gallery MuseumLV the "Exhibition # No.7" – exhibition of Lilija Dinere and Roberts Diners "Gods, Heroes, Reflections and Shadows" can be seen.
In the exhibition, Lilija Dinere and Roberts Diners deals with the ancient cultural layers, heroes and epic events in which modern man sees analogies with himself and life today, and unconsciously seeks to identify with them. Artists are interested in myth codes and archetypes - their cultural uniqueness and the universality at the same time. The exhibition - as a process of decoding myths, as a reflection of archaic images and myths, and their integration into nowadays.
The works created by Roberts Diners combine human, animal, ancient archetypes and modern associations. The artist creates sculptures using various techniques and their combinations - bronze, iron, silver, stone, clay, wood, sand, incrustation, patina and staining. It will be possible to see Roberts Diners’ sculptures and objects of various sizes starting from miniatures to large-scale installations. Roberts is interested in looking into a small object or detail and transforming it into monumental image, and, conversely, how to include a cosmogony process in a miniature.
In the works of Lilija Dinere, the boundary between the fantastic and the real world is not strictly set, the ancient and modern myths are twisted, creating a multidimensional possibility of perception. The artist in her works uses combination of various materials and techniques: paintings on handmade paper - as pages of ancient chronicles, paintings on large format photos - as a way of modern documentation.
In the exhibition it will be possible to see also the result of the creative co-operation of the two artists – the visual interpretation for publications of two important literary monuments: the ancient French epic poem "The Song of Roland" and the ancient Icelandic epic song collection "Songs of Edda" in Latvian language. There will be exhibited illustrations of these epics, made as mutual integration of two artists – linking Roberts’ three-dimensional objects, sculptures and fragments with Lilija’s paintings, photographs and mixed-technique works.

Agnija Ģērmane
Present Continuous
Agnija Ģērmane's solo exhibition "Present Continuous" is available for viewing on the first floor of the culture centre GrataJJ art gallery MuseumLV. The exhibited artworks have been created over the course of the last few years. This is Agnija Ģērmane’s most substantial showcase of art that has taken place in Riga.
While painting large scale compositions in her studio, Agnija Ģērmane preserves the vivid colours and the impressions of light that she has accumulated via her extended work in plein-air paintings. Water and roots show variations and stability in the values of art and life. Painting that demands urgent presence here and now is a never ending present. A continuous present.
Agnija Ģērmane graduated from the Painting department of Art Academy of Latvia in 1991.She has had more than 20 solo exhibitions in Latvia, the UK, Belarus, Belgium, Ireland, Lithuania, Russia and Germany. Agnija Ģērmane has also participated in prominent international projects and plein-airs. She has been particularly inspired by her trips to Morocco and India – these impressions are reflected in her works that are viewable in the exhibition. Several of Agnija's works have been dedicated the to the history of her family.

Culture centre Grata JJ and gallery MuseumLV 7.06. – 31.07. 2024.
In Mary Zhang's solo exhibition "Dragon Boat" you will see the works created by the artist during her 10 years of living in Riga. The opening of the exhibition is linked to the Dragon Boat Festival in the artist's hometown in China.
Mary Zhang, painter and architect, is an artist who captures moments, so she has chosen the technique that is the fastest. "With the habits of an architect and years of working under high pressure and at a rapid pace, it is natural that the adjective "rapid" would appear in my artistic themes. I hope my works resonate with this rapidly changing society. I want to express a faithful understanding of modern society and a love for art,” artist says. The black and white lines are derived from the oriental ink gene in her blood. After completing each work, she adds ancient Chinese poems and inscriptions based on the image, combining Chinese and Western styles.
Mary Zhang is a very active artist who has collaborated with Mikhail Chekov's Riga Russian Theater and other artists over the years, and this is her second exhibition at the gallery MuseumLV. Her second book is coming out soon that includes discussion with curator of the exhibition.
During the exhibition, two projects will take place at the gallery:
On June 7, a lecture on Chinese poetry will be co-hosted by the Dean of the Confucius Institute, He Dong, and the renowned Latvian sinologist Pēteris Pildegovičs;
On July 9, Mary will hold lecture on the history and techniques of Chinese ink rubbing art and Turkish Ebru painting together with Irina Trumpele, a senior artist and teacher from the Latvian Artists Union(LMS).
Everyone is warmly invited to sign up and attend these lectures, where the speakers will bring many surprises and inspiration.

Solo exhibition of Rita Ulyanova
“Where stories come together…”
31. 05. – 31.07.
Spring slowly turns into summer, when the sun is stronger and nature reaches its perfection. This is a period of time that represents the changes in nature and the beginning of the new life. It is at this beautiful time that artist Rita Uljanova presents her personal exhibition “Where stories come together…”
The exhibition is like an exciting journey that reflects the artistic path and development. Each painting hides a special story, revealing different types of characters. Most of the works are dominated by lyrically harmonious moods. Through illustrative images, the artist wants to remind viewers of the love that is right next to us and the world full of miracles around us, which we often don't notice in the rush of everyday life.
“I often start from ordinary everyday stories, what I heard, what I saw, but I just talk about it a little allegorically, using mythological or fairy-tale images. The world is so diverse. I also want to show that," says artist Rita Uljanova
Rita Uļjanova graduated from the Janis Rozentals Riga Art High School and further studied at the Latvian Art Academy, Department of Painting. 2001 – Received a master's degree in painting. Since 1997, she has been participating in exhibitions and competitions. Several awards have been won, including in 2022, Rita Uljanova won 1st place in the "Illusory Reality" competition organized by the gallery MuseumLV and culture centre Grata JJ. Her works are in private collections in Latvia, USA, Israel, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Germany, etc.
We invite you to look into the world through the eyes of an artist and discover new, exciting stories painted on canvas!

17.11.2023. – 13.01.2024.
The exhibition "Living Impressions: Two Women, Two Realities " is a journey through the artistic works of two painters, Vera Bondare and Elena Morozova. Elena Morozova offers to express emotions and abstract concepts using expressive compositions and a wealth of color. Her works are dynamic and radiate vitality, drawing us in with their energy and play of color. Elena explores the diversity of the world through bright colors and dynamic compositions, taking us beyond the boundaries of physical reality.
The exhibition "Living Impressions: Two Women, Two Realities" is a journey through the complex and multifaceted artistic expression that provides visitors with the opportunity to experience the richness of the natural world. Each painting is a story of various interpretations of reality that merge in harmony in this exhibition.
Group exhibition. “Another World”
Group exhibition. “Another World”
15.09. – 28.10. 2023.
From September 15, MuseumLV Gallery displays a group show of four painters, “Another World.” The artistic approach of the exhibition participants - Anna Afanasjeva (1981), Magone Boleiko (1985), Mārīte Guščika (1980) and Ronalds Rusmanis (1981) is radically different, which explains the theme and title of the exhibition chosen - about the diversity of the modern world as an undisputed dominance in the global context. The topic is one of the highlights of the world's social processes, where the quirky is a legitimate model of global existence.
Artists represent a generation of 40 - year-olds (educated at the Latvian Academy of Art) who have asserted themselves and gained recognition in the professional art field. They participated in many group shows and held personal exhibitions. The authors have crystallized techniques of artistic expression and developed a range of themes through which artists talk about what matters to themselves.
The exhibition's concept is shaped by the simultaneous diversity of the world and its coexistence. This tempo inevitably provokes the question of the coexistence of an individual's personal and public space - how do they connect with each other and does an individual feel happy in this inevitable common space? People-to-people relationships and the quest for their identity are inseparable from the evolving patterns of the global structure of the world, which are constantly changing and modifying. That's why personality individuality is the most important factor in this such a shifting pattern of the world, as reported by the co-exhibition of four artists - Anna Afanasjeva, Magone Boleiko, Mārīte Guščika and Ronalds Rusmanis, “Another World,” with so many different techniques of artistic expression.
The stylistics of the artworks have a great range - from individual versions of modernity, variations of photorealism to lyrical abstraction. The works exhibited can trace the artists' current artistic interests and range of themes rooted in professional experience and subjective living space within themselves.
The show includes the authors' latest works, many of which have been exhibited for the first time.
Curator of the exhibition – art scientist, Diāna Barčevska.
