Lecture course at gallery MuseumLV "Great collectors and collections"
We are starting a new lecture course in the gallery MuseumLV. As always, we invite you to meet our lecturer Julia Osipova on Tuesday evenings to get to know the exciting world of art a little closer.
5.04.
Paul Durand-Ruel and his impressionists.
A person who played a major role in the emergence of the term "contemporary art" and the trade in art dealership as a kind of activity. Thanks to him, Impressionism emerged, and artists such as Monet, Cezanne, Degas, Renoir, Pisarro were literally able to survive and have the opportunity to create their own masterpieces of painting.
19.04.
Ambrose Volard – conductor of art.
20th century art became such only thanks to Ambruzzo Volar - one of the most influential art dealers in Paris at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a collector, art dealer, acquaintance, friend and patron of many masters of that time. The man who opened the world to Gogen, Van Gogh and Cezanne.
26.04.
Pavel Tretyakov - a collection of a lifetime.
Great collector and gallery owner, trader, businessman, philanthropist. All his life he collected paintings by Russian artists. Having collected one of the largest collections of Russian art and a whole gallery of life portraits of his outstanding contemporaries, he presented a unique collection to his hometown. Having chosen the goal, he went to it without deviating from the intended path.
3.05.
Sergei and Petr Shukini - collections of people in love with art.
The Shukin family owned one of the largest collections of works of art from around the world, marking the beginning of the collection of French modernist paintings at the Hermitage and the Pushkin Museum, as well as the Shukin Museum.
Sergei Shukin had three more brothers - the eldest Peter and two younger ones, Dmitry and Ivan. And they were all passionate collectors, their collections were of an equally high standard.
They were very different people, but they were all united by a love of beauty and severe trials of destiny, so strong that not everyone could stand them.
10.05.
Ivan and Alexei Morozovs - collectors from the family of merchants.
The Morozov brothers had one of the richest collections of French Impressionists and Post-Impressionists in the world. At the beginning of the 20th century, both artists and gallery owners in Paris were looking forward to the arrival of Russian millionaire collectors in the capital. They collected the most iconic works of Picasso, Matisse, Gogen and Van Gogh.
17.05.
Peggy Guggenheim is synonymous with the success of contemporary art.
The main patroness of artists of the twentieth century and a passionate collector, who has collected the best art collection of the first half of the last century, which includes works by Picasso, Pollock, Brancusi, Miro, Rothko, Giacometti and Duchamp. She was a human who actively and lovingly promoted abstract art, surrealism, and other innovations in 20th-century art. Without her, this century of painting would be completely different.
7.06.
Georgi Kostaki - educated in avant-garde art.
Once in love with bright colors and bold forms, driven by intuition and passion, he made collecting avant-garde works the meaning of his life. Kostakis's collection is unique: there is no such collection of Russian and Soviet avant-garde in the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Pompidou Center or the Guggenheim Museum. He is often compared to the main collectors of Russia - P. Tretyakov and I. Morozov, but his creative path was more unusual.

Who taught Korovin, Botticelli, Van Dyck and Titian? Can a gifted "nugget" succeed on his own, or is a guiding creator needed? Can a brilliant teacher create a brilliant artist from an ordinary student?
In Russia, Ilya Repin - one of the pillars of Russian painting - manifested itself especially clearly in realism. But his students - V. Serov, K. Makovsky, N. Feshin - became the founders of Russian impressionism and conquered Europe.
In Florence, the adventurous artist Filippo Lippi little Sandro Botticelli considered a talented artist. Botticelli, in turn, taught painting to his son Lippi. So much so that they still argue about the authorship of some works!
In Antwerp, a boy named Anthony van Dyck entered the workshop of a famous Flemish artist. From that moment began an incredible story of work and lifelong friendship.
In Venice, a detective story unleashed about the authorship of the incomparable artists G. Bellini and A. Mantegna. And later, their students made a revolution in painting. One brought the color to the absolute, and the other left to conquer Spain.
To Your attention - the most striking examples of the fateful meetings of famous creators.
March 1. Repin - Serov - Makovsky - Kustodiev - Malyavin - Somov - Feshin. Realism - Impressionism - St. Petersburg - Moscow - Paris - Slava Mamontov.
March 15. Filippo Lippi - Sandro Botticelli - Filippino Lippi. Italian Renaissance - Florence - Medici dynasty.
March 22. Rubens - Van Dyck - Jacob Jordaens. Baroque - Antwerp - Flemings - innovators.
March 29. Giovanni Bellini - Andrea Mantegna - Titian - El Greco. Early Italian Renaissance - Republic of Venice - Padua - Madrid - Toledo.Attached materials
